Sometimes Lutheran Christians have been accused of quietism: if human works don’t save us, then we aren’t motivated to do anything to reform the world or ourselves. But this is a misunderstanding. Trusting in Christ alone, not our works or status, leads us to freedom to reform ourselves and neighbor without fear of God or any human power! Martin Luther could take on the power of the Church and the State trusting in Christ alone!
