(Always reforming!) Jesus tells a parable using a familiar scene of the time: an absentee landlord. The rich landlord lives far away and expects his workers to produce much for his wealth and comfort. He uses this scenario to expose how religious leaders can act like elite people—expecting others to live their way rather than learning the real challenges people face and helping them. Jesus’s death and resurrection exposes ways systems need to be transformed, to humanize both the wealthy and workers, who both need Christ to save them..
